IT asset disposition (ITAD) is the process of retiring equipment so that nothing leaks and whatever value remains is recovered. How it works
- Send a list. Model, year and quantity are enough to start; serial numbers can come later.
- Preliminary valuation. We tell you which part of the lot is likely resellable and which part is recycling only.
- Collection and check-in. Each device is logged by serial number, tested and graded.
- Sanitize and unlock. Data is erased or drives destroyed, and devices are released from every account and management system.
- Settlement. Resale value is paid or credited on the terms agreed at the start, and items without value go to recycling.
- Report. You receive the per-device record for your files and your auditors.
What affects the value
Age matters most, followed by configuration and condition. Business-line laptops generally hold their value better than consumer models. Missing chargers, cracked screens and worn batteries lower the price, and a device still locked to an MDM or an Apple account often cannot be resold at all, which is why unlocking is part of the job rather than an afterthought.
Selling laptops to employees
Some companies prefer to offer retiring laptops to staff. We prepare those machines the same way: wiped, released from management and reinstalled with a clean operating system, so no company data or access goes home with them.

How much is a used business laptop worth?
It depends on age, processor, memory, storage, screen and battery condition, and whether the charger is included. Recent business-line models in good condition are worth the most; older or damaged units often have recycling value only. A list of models and years is enough for a first estimate.
Why can a locked laptop not be resold?
A device still enrolled in Windows Autopilot, Apple Business Manager or an MDM, or protected by Activation Lock or a firmware password, cannot be set up by a new owner. Releasing it before disposal is usually the difference between resale and scrap.
Is the data erased before equipment is resold?
Yes. Every storage device is sanitized and verified, or physically destroyed, before any resale, and the report lists each serial number with the method used.
What is a laptop buyback program?
An arrangement in which retired company laptops are bought back, either by an outside buyer or by employees, instead of being recycled. For a business it turns part of the old fleet into money or credit toward new equipment, as long as the data and accounts are dealt with first.
